Unbelievable Activities That Make Singapore Changi Airport a Must-Visit Destination

#1 Play interactive games to pass the time

interactive games

The Changi Experience Studio allows you to see Changi Airport in a whole new light. Participate in a variety of interactive activities that demonstrate the effort required to keep Changi Airport running smoothly. The experience studio provides activities for both the young and the young at heart, such as racing a Boeing 747 or playing instruments by moving your arms.

#2 T3 allows you to scale some heights

scale some heights

Changi Airport is well-known for its various attractions, and it’s about to get another one. Climb@T3 is a new rock climbing and bouldering facility in Terminal 3’s Basement 3. It is administered by The Rock School (TRS) Singapore. This is the place where kids, teens, and adults may gather to scale some world-class walls.

The 8-metre High Wall is the showpiece of Climb@T3. Connect to the auto-belay system and take on any of the 20 climbing routes (soon to be upgraded to 30 climbs). Head over to the 12-metre-long and 2.5-metre-high Boulder Wall for some rope-free fun – the ideal place for young children and beginners to practice and gain confidence before attempting the High Wall.

#3 Marvel at art exhibits

While aviation, retail therapy, and interesting leisure pastimes spring to mind at Changi’s fast-paced lifestyle utopia, there’s also art appreciation, which is best enjoyed when you take your time. Our airport is dotted with stunning art displays that demand a second look, from famous wall murals to metamorphosing ceiling sculptures.

The airport’s most popular Kinetic Rain, made up of more than 1000 bronze droplets that cohesively contort into abstract patterns and other recognisable shapes, is located in T1’s Departure Hall, while T2 has a kinetic art installation called A Million Times at Changi, where the hands of over 500 clock faces spell out greetings and form other mesmerising cadences. Elsewhere, wired-formed birds hover over T4’s Departure and Arrival halls, and wall murals along T4’s underpass immortalize Singapore’s hawker past.

#4 Go to the movies for free

cinema for free

A far cry from the normal television entertainment found in airport lounges – imagine a hundred people pretending to watch the news or some dubious reality program on a tiny screen in a waiting room. This is a full-fledged movie theater with comfortable seats that shows the latest box office hits. Upgrade! You can’t miss them if you go to T2 or 3’s transit area.

#5 Shop even before you leave

shopping

No points for imagination here, but Changi’s 350-plus shop assortment, which includes everything from luxury goods to daily necessities, is not to be overlooked. Visit the Wines and Spirits Duplex store in T2 or T3 to select a particular bottle from its extensive selection of wines, spirits, and tobacco. Choose from RISIS’ excellent orchid jewelry or, for something a little different, some natural Chinese medicines, tonics, and supplements from indigenous Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) brand Eu Yan Sang. Don’t forget to pack some holiday perfumes and smells for your trip, as well as magazines for the long airline ride.
