These hotels offer breathtaking views

Nothing beats a room with a view when you’re travelling.

After a long day of sightseeing, being able to gaze out at something truly spectacular could really elevate the hotel from a decent place to sleep to a highlight in its own right.

We all have different criteria for what we look for in a hotel: privacy, a convenient location, price, a comfortable bed, and how many fancy freebies you’ll receive. There’s a good reason why a beautiful window view takes precedence over all of these.

Immersion in nature has been shown to reduce stress, increase energy, and boost creativity – and even just looking at it can have these benefits.

Lakes, mountains, and villages can also make you feel healthier, but cityscapes can evoke feelings of ‘pride or awe that we as humans are able to create such enormous structures,’ according to Michael Forster of the University of Vienna.

Sold? The next step is to decide where to go.
