The adventurous cat enjoys kayaking, hiking, paddle-boarding, and even horseback riding with his owner
Think you’re tough? You’ve got nothing on Bongo the cat.
The Bengal-ragdoll cross is only seven months old, but he has already accomplished a number of activities that are likely on your bucket list.
Kayaking, hiking, paddleboarding, and even horseback riding are all options.
The cat enjoys going on big adventures with his owner, Lucy Frankcom, whether it’s a trip up the Snowdonia mountains or a paddle in nearby lakes.
‘I started paddle-boarding with Bongo when he was three months old in Snowdonia,’ said Lucy, a 22-year-old dentistry student from Llandudno, North Wales.
‘As I was pumping up the board, he jumped right on it, as if he knew where we were going.’
When we got into the water, he just sat there and relaxed, staring at the birds, ducks, and fish.
He enjoys dipping his paws into the water and staring off into the distance.
I took him kayaking down the Manchester Canal, and despite the filthy water, he had a great time – from exploring the boat to sitting on the bow.
‘He seemed at ease, and the horse seemed at ease, so the next time we went to the stables, I put him on a horse with a saddle, and he loved it.’ Bongo and the horse are now best friends who enjoy spending time together. He’s completely at ease when he’s outside; he despises being cooped up, so I try to get him outside as much as possible.’
Bongo’s exploits have earned him a devoted following, both locally and online, where Lucy chronicles the cat’s exploits at @big_bongo_theory.
