Cities That Have Some of the Most Affordable Fall Flights
As Labor Day marked the unofficial end of summer (and peak vacation season for many travel destinations around the world), travelers can now enjoy the benefits of “shoulder season,” also known as the travel season with fewer crowds at popular destinations and lower airfare and hotel prices.
If you’re looking for the perfect fall getaway at a reasonable price, Expedia has just announced the destinations with the best-valued flight prices compared to this summer. The flight forecasts are based on airfare from September 5, 2022 to November 15, 2022, as opposed to travel from May 31, 2022 to September 4, 2022.
USA
To begin, you can book a flight to Seattle for nearly half off, as prices have dropped 45 percent from summer to fall. Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, come in second and third, respectively, with a 35% decrease in average ticket price. San Francisco takes third place, with a 25% decrease in airfare from summer to fall.
If you’re looking for some vitamin D, you should go to San Diego. A ticket to the Southern California city, a great weekend getaway, is 20% cheaper than it was this summer. Cancun, one of the summer’s most popular beach destinations, has now reduced ticket prices by 10% for the fall.
EUROPE
Flights to Europe are also decreasing this fall. Explore Barcelona‘s architectural landmarks and sun-kissed beaches for 30% less than the average ticket price, or fly to London for 20% less than it has cost in the previous three months. Finally, both Paris and Rome are accessible this fall for 15% less than the average summer ticket price.
It’s worth noting that Expedia’s data only includes travel between September 5 and November 15, so Thanksgiving pricing isn’t included in these findings. According to the company, searches for fall getaways are up 40% compared to the same period last year, with American travelers increasingly focusing on international destinations.
