Domaine de Bois Chéri’s Bubble Lodge. This ecolodge, located in Mauritius’ most famous tea estate in the south, promises lovebirds incomparable relaxation in privacy and luxury.
Mauritius has always been a popular honeymoon destination, with its clear blue waters and white sands providing the ideal setting. If you’re thinking about visiting the island, we have something rather unique for you: Bubble Lodge at the island’s largest and oldest tea garden. The Bubble Lodge, which is spread around the lake at the Bois Cheri tea plantation, will remind you of an igloo or even a giant zorbing ball. The concept behind the plantation stay is to provide a one-of-a-kind and eco-friendly accommodation for nature lovers while also making the stay memorable for guests sleeping under the stars — all while maintaining a high level of service. Pierre-Stéphane Dumas, a Parisian designer, created these semi-transparent domes out of recyclable PVC.
A Tea Garden with Luxurious Bubble Tents
The small-looking structure is mounted on a wooden floor with airlock tunnels to keep its shape. A turbine fan keeps the air flowing inside. The bubble has a master bedroom with an attached dry toilet (similar to those found in aircrafts), which can be concealed behind an opaque curtain. A small lounge or sitting area with a sofa bed and a lamp is also available. The shower area is open to the elements. The majority of the bubble is transparent, simulating the experience of sleeping under the stars. During clear nights, one can see constellations from their bed or simply turn on the mood light to illuminate the trees around them. To round out the experience, host a tea party for breakfast or simply lounge outside near the lake for a few drinks after dinner.
Tropical Bubble
All bubble lodges have a door and a lock to ensure the safety of their guests. The pods do not require curtains because they are set up in such a way that guests have complete privacy. The air-conditioning systems also aid in temperature regulation. Each pod also has an alarm system and a fire extinguisher, as well as an army of security guards on the property. A gravel path connects the lodges to the tea garden. As you walk up to your room, you will notice tropical trees teeming with birds. Ducks and black swans will keep you company down by the lake. Because the property is close to nature, you may also hear birds singing their morning songs.
Activities for Adventure
Guests can also enjoy activities like kayaking and fishing. There are also guided nature walks, mountain biking, tea tasting at the Bois Cheri restaurant, and a factory tour. A colonial house on the hilltop serves local delicacies such as palm heart salad with smoked marlin, green tea chicken, and a dessert made with local vanilla pods.
There are also a couple of these bubble lodges on Ile aux Cerfs, a private island off Mauritius’ east coast. Aside from providing access to private beaches known for snorkeling, there is also a highly recommended golf course.
